It is important to establish a good horse vaccination schedule, as it helps in protecting your horse against various infectious diseases. When you begin a horse vaccination programme, two or more doses might be required for each disease to initiate an adequate immune response.
We recommend tetanus and equine influenza vaccines for all horses, ponies and donkeys.
A tetanus course involves two vaccinations within a gap of one month. It provides immunity for 3 years.
The influenza vaccine is a three-injection course; the first two should be given at an interval of 4-6 weeks and the third injection, 5 months after the second. We use Proteq vaccines as these
include the World Organisation for Animal Health's recommended influenza strains. These are the most up to date and reliable strains that ensure your horse is protected against an outbreak. You can also opt for a combined vaccination that includes both tetanus and influenza vaccine.
Vaccines for Equine Herpes Virus and West Nile Virus are also available but currently, we would only recommend these in brood mares or animals regularly competing in Southern Europe.
